Participation Agreement & Expectations

By submitting this registration, the student and parent/guardian acknowledge and agree to the following terms for participation in the Rooted at Folks Internship Program.

Program Nature

Rooted is a mentorship-based, hands-on educational internship program centered around farming, land stewardship, and community learning. This is not a formal school course, employment position, or guaranteed academic credit program.

Attendance & Commitment

  • Students are expected to attend regularly on scheduled program days (first and third Fridays, 3:30–5:30 PM, May–September).

  • Consistent attendance is important for participation in group activities and learning experiences.

  • Excessive absences or inconsistent attendance may limit participation in certain activities and/or eligibility for completion recognition.

Community Service Hours / Credit / Documentation

  • Community service hours may be provided only for verified participation and completed attendance.

  • We cannot guarantee school credit, internship credit, or fulfillment of specific graduation requirements, as these depend on individual school policies.

  • Any documentation (hours, participation letters, etc.) will reflect actual participation and engagement in the program.

Letters of Recommendation

  • Letters of recommendation are not guaranteed.

  • They are written at the discretion of program leaders based on consistent attendance, engagement, attitude, responsibility, and contribution to the farm community.

  • Students who are rarely present or demonstrate poor participation may not be eligible for recommendations.

Behavior & Expectations

We expect all participants to:

  • Show respect to staff, peers, animals, crops, tools, and property

  • Follow instructions from farm leaders and guest educators

  • Work safely and responsibly at all times

  • Contribute positively to a team environment

  • Refrain from disruptive, disrespectful, or unsafe behavior

Poor behavior, repeated disregard for instructions, or unsafe conduct may result in removal from the program.

Farm Conditions & Physical Work

  • This is an outdoor, working farm environment.

  • Activities may include physical labor, exposure to weather, soil, plants, insects, and tools.

  • Students should dress appropriately and be prepared for hands-on work in varying conditions.

Program Participation Rights

Folks Farm reserves the right to:

  • Limit or adjust participation based on capacity, safety, or behavioral concerns

  • Remove a student from the program if expectations are not met

  • Modify program structure, schedule, or offerings if necessary
